I am able to sum up what I have gained from this semester with:
Technique- My technique has vastly improved this semester throughout creating my different projects. I have been able to pay more attention to detail and have sharpened my skills in order to create clean and well-shaped projects. For example, I learned to utilize the ribbed tool on all of my projects to makes them smooth for a finishing touch.
Art Elements- My new knowledge of the art elements has greatly enhanced the quality of my projects. By learning about all of the different elements I am able to come up with more visually interesting projects. For example, I used contrast in many of my projects with my glaze like when I would use dark blue glaze next to lighter colored glazes.
Creativity- once I was able to master basic skills, I was able to mess around and be more creative with my projects. For example, I was able to make a few wheel altered projects as a creative touch to a basic piece. I decorated a mug as an owl to make it more interesting than just a plain mug.
How were my effort levels during class? Did I work more or socialize?
I find that I spent most of my time dedicated to my work. I rarely socialized unless I was helping a beginner with their project. I created quality projects as a product of my hard work and focus. I completed my cleaning jobs on a daily basis rather than standing around and talking.
What can I focus on next quarter?
Next semester I can focus on adding more detail to my projects to make them more visually interesting. I found that my best projects this quarter were the ones that I took my time to decorate and add detail, so I should focus more on making projects like that this upcoming quarter.
