For my multi wheel project I made a teapot. It is fairly small. It was thrown using vashon white clay and was glazed using forest green glaze. The art element in this project is unity because it only has one solid color of glaze, meaning it is consistent throughout.
This is my first wheel altered choice project. It was glazed using turquoise matte, burnt orange, lavender, clear, and black detailing glaze. The art element in the piece is texture because of the three dimensional details on the outside of the mug. This is my first plate. It was thrown using vashon white clay. It was glazed using dark blue, shadow green, and clear. The art element in this piece is contrast between the dark outer glazes and the light color of the clay in the center. I am able to sum up what I have gained from this semester with: Technique- My technique has vastly improved this semester throughout creating my different projects. I have been able to pay more attention to detail and have sharpened my skills in order to create clean and well-shaped projects. For example, I learned to utilize the ribbed tool on all of my projects to makes them smooth for a finishing touch. Art Elements- My new knowledge of the art elements has greatly enhanced the quality of my projects. By learning about all of the different elements I am able to come up with more visually interesting projects. For example, I used contrast in many of my projects with my glaze like when I would use dark blue glaze next to lighter colored glazes. Creativity- once I was able to master basic skills, I was able to mess around and be more creative with my projects. For example, I was able to make a few wheel altered projects as a creative touch to a basic piece. I decorated a mug as an owl to make it more interesting than just a plain mug. How were my effort levels during class? Did I work more or socialize? I find that I spent most of my time dedicated to my work. I rarely socialized unless I was helping a beginner with their project. I created quality projects as a product of my hard work and focus. I completed my cleaning jobs on a daily basis rather than standing around and talking. What can I focus on next quarter? Next semester I can focus on adding more detail to my projects to make them more visually interesting. I found that my best projects this quarter were the ones that I took my time to decorate and add detail, so I should focus more on making projects like that this upcoming quarter. This is my third bowl and probably the best one I have made so far. I threw this using red clay. On the outside. I used black, dark blue, and shadow green glaze. The inside was glazed using clear. The difference between the glaze on the inside and the outside really emphasizes the shape of the bowl. This is my first bowl. It was thrown with bash on white clay and glazed using dark blue, shadow green, and clear glaze. The art element in this is contrast between the light colored clay and the dark blue glaze. This was one of the first first vases I have made. I had intended for there to be red spot but they didn't show with the black glaze. It was thrown using mixer clay and glazed using black and red. The art element in this piece is unity because the color is consistent throughout. This is my second completed project. This bowl, and it was thrown with vashon white clay as well as the first bowl. There is a mixture of glazes on this bowl including dark blue, shadow green, metallic brown and clear. The art element in this piece is unity as all of the different colored glazes blend into one another. |
